We'll create the experience that works for you. In the meantime be guided by this example of a 9 day itinerary.

The cultural energy of Thimphu gives way to Punakha's warm river valley and a restorative yoga practice, before two nights in Gangtey create a rare pause for meditation, nature and quiet village life.

Day 1 — Arrival & a Gentle Welcome

Paro Airport to Thimphu · Approx. 1–1.5 hours

Arrive in Paro and meet your private guide and chauffeur. The drive to Thimphu follows two river valleys and offers a calm first introduction to Bhutan's forested landscape.

If the flight schedule allows, pause near Tamchog Lhakhang and its traditional iron-chain bridge. After check-in, take an easy orientation walk and join local residents around the Memorial Chorten before a welcoming dinner at a selected Thimphu restaurant.

Overnight: Termalinca Resort, Thimphu

Day 2 — Living Traditions & Forest Air

Thimphu Valley · Short local drives

Begin above the capital at Buddha Dordenma, followed by a gentle forest walk along the ridge, adjusted to the group's energy and the weather. Views open across a valley where monasteries, government buildings and contemporary neighbourhoods sit side by side.

Spend the afternoon with Bhutan's living traditions through selected visits to artisans, a textile or craft workshop and Pangrizampa, where astrology remains woven into daily life. Leave room for a warm café stop, independent browsing and an unhurried evening in town.

Overnight: Termalinca Resort, Thimphu

Day 3 — Across Dochula to the Warm Punakha Valley

Thimphu to Punakha · Approx. 2.5–3 hours, excluding stops

Travel over Dochula Pass, where 108 chortens create a graceful frame for the high Himalaya on clear mornings. Pause for tea and time to absorb the mountain atmosphere before descending into Punakha's warmer subtropical valley.

Walk through fields and village houses to Chimi Lhakhang, then continue to Punakha Dzong at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. If the day allows, finish at the long suspension bridge before settling into the evening.

Overnight: Dhumra Farm Resort, Punakha

Day 4 — Yoga, Rice Terraces & Riverside Life

Punakha Valley · Short local drives

Begin with a private gentle yoga practice in a quiet lodge, garden or riverside setting. After breakfast, walk through rice terraces to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, allowing generous time for photographs, conversation and valley views.

Return for a farmhouse or village-style lunch and a slower afternoon beside the river. Depending on season and group interest, add an easy rafting experience, a cooking encounter or restful time at the resort.

Overnight: Dhumra Farm Resort, Punakha

Day 5 — Into Gangtey: A Valley Made for Stillness

Punakha to Gangtey · Approx. 3–3.5 hours, excluding stops

Climb gradually from Punakha through forest and mountain villages into the glacial Phobjikha Valley. Arrive with time to settle in and take in the broad sweep of meadow, forest and distant farmhouses.

Visit Gangtey Goenpa in the quieter light of afternoon, then begin the retreat-like portion of the journey with a gentle guided meditation. The setting may be a peaceful room, monastery courtyard or sheltered outdoor space, depending on local arrangements and weather.

Overnight: Gangtey Tent Resort, Gangtey

Day 6 — Meditation, Nature & Village Life

Phobjikha Valley · Short local drives and valley walking

Begin with a short morning meditation before breakfast. Walk a beautiful section of the Gangtey Nature Trail through pine forest, village edges and open valley, with the route adapted to the group's preferred distance.

Visit the Black-necked Crane information centre and share lunch in a local farmhouse. The afternoon is deliberately spacious for tea, journaling, photography or a gentle forest-bathing walk. Close the day with a brief reflection or silent meditation.

Overnight: Gangtey Tent Resort, Gangtey

Day 7 — The Long, Beautiful Road to Paro

Gangtey to Paro · Approx. 5.5–6.5 hours, excluding stops

Leave Gangtey after breakfast and retrace the forested road west, pausing at scenic viewpoints, Dochula or Thimphu as time and weather suggest. A relaxed lunch breaks the journey before continuing to Paro.

After arrival, keep the late afternoon gentle with a stroll through Paro town or quiet time at the hotel. An early evening leaves everyone rested for the sacred ascent ahead.

Overnight: Amba Paro, Paro

Day 8 — Tiger's Nest: Bhutan's Sacred Ascent

Paro Valley · Full-day hike; usually 4–6 hours with pauses

Set out early for Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest Monastery, which rests dramatically on a cliff above the Paro Valley. The private pace allows time for tea at the cafeteria viewpoint, photographs, rest and a quiet approach to the monastery complex.

After descending, enjoy a traditional hot stone bath to ease tired muscles. Gather later for a celebratory farewell dinner and reflect on a journey that moved from cultural discovery into stillness and sacred landscape.

Overnight: Amba Paro, Paro

Day 9 — Farewell to the Land of the Thunder Dragon

Paro hotel to Paro Airport · According to flight schedule

After breakfast, transfer privately to Paro International Airport. Your guide and chauffeur will assist with departure formalities and bid the group farewell.

Bhutan's quiet valleys, warm encounters and unhurried rhythm remain as an invitation to carry a little more spaciousness home.
